The Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) in collaboration with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) is organising two times a 2 days capacity building workshop for generic teachers from the seventeen selected Training Providers within the project’s scope. This is in preparation towards the implementation of the cooperative apprenticeship training programme.
The Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) will be organizing a Familiarization Training Programme for selected MCPs who are members of the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers Association (GNTDA), in the Northern Region, specifically Tamale.
Ghana’s harmonized Competency Based Training (CBT), has arrived in Generic skills as well.

Review and Development of Tools and Instruments
An intensive review of GSDI’s Monitoring took place from 1st to 12th September 2014. The review was facilitated by Mrs. Doris Weidemann-Butscher from Germany. Besides the establishment of Monitoring instruments for all three intervention levels (Macro/Meso/Micro) the main focus was directed towards developing a Monitoring System for the implementation of the Cooperative Apprenticeship Training.
Employee Wellbeing Programme workshop held by GIZ and partners on peer education for Trade Associations from the 2nd to 4th September 2014 in Tamale
INTRODUCTION
Two 2-days-training workshops for Trade Association representatives from the Electronics sector were held in the Volta Region (in Ho at Polytechnic and in Abor at St. Theresa Center for the Physically Challenged). On September 16th – 17th, 2014 the training workshop for Electronics in Ho was attended by 13 MCPs and 6 teachers and on September 18th – 19th in Abor by 16 MCPs and 5 teachers.
A 3-days training workshop was organized by the Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) in collaboration with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education Training (COTVET). The workshop took place at the Welding Workshop of Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) from 24th to 26th September, 2014.
A total of thirty-five (35) participants took part.
One slot of 'Time with COTVET' broadcasted by Citi FM breakfast show was given to GSDI, in order to provide information about the project and to improve the perception of TVET. The opportunity was taken by Jeanette Burmester and Gladys Quarshie on the 12th of November 2014 at 9 am.
This means 'good work' and is the title of a newly composed song. You can listen to the song and watch the video here! It was recorded and will continuously be played in order to sensitize the society in an enjoyable way about vocational education and training. The message of the song is to think about the future and to consider learning a trade.
