After years of preparation and capacity building, a selected number of Training Providers in three regions of the country (Gr. Accra, Volta Region and Northern Region) are now starting to offer training courses for the informal sector.
COTVET – GSDI Workshop Training of 48 Facilitators, Assessors and Verifiers on CBT- based assessment and certification for piloted trades of the National Proficiencies level I and II
Together with the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET), who coordinates technical and vocational education and training in Ghana, the Ghana Skills Development Initiative ( GSDI) developed and is piloting the cooperative apprenticeship program for five trades (Cosmetology, Garment, Electronics, Welding and Automotive). Following competency based national qualification standards (Proficiency 1 and 2) piloting takes place in 3 regions, namely Greater Accra, Volta and Northern Region.

On Thursday, 11th December, the German Ambassador to Ghana visited GSDI’s activities in Accra. After he had come to see the work with the Trade Associations in the Volta Region, this time he was interested in the collaboration with Training Providers.
