MAINSTREAMING HEALTH AND WELLBEING INTO SCHOOLS AND APPRENCESHIP TRAINING

The well-being of every staff/student/apprentice is very crucial to the productivity of his/her organisation. Thus as part of the obligation of the Ghana Skills Development Initiative, we organised a workshop dubbed: Mainstreaming Health and Wellbeing into Schools and Apprenceship Training in Northern Ghana.

In addition to an information meeting, two days workshop for Training Providers and two days workshop for Trade Associations, a public health screening took place in a TVET school in Tamale.

The Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) with support from the Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) has  developed a Gender Strategy to govern the operations of TVET in the Council and its stakeholders.

CBT AND MODERN TRAINING METHODSFrom March 24 until 28, 2014 the Ghana Skills Development Initiative (GSDI) performed a training for teaching staff in Accra. National and international trainers conducted a workshop on modern teaching approaches and Competency-Based-Training (CBT) to further develop the capacities of teachers, trainers and facilitators.

School Management Workshop

A school management training took place from 17th to 20th March 2014 in Dodowa. The German facilitator Inke Hase and the Ghanaian expert Dr. Ahmed Jinapor conducted a work shop for heads, principals and administrators of the 17 pilot schools participating in the activities of the Ghana Skills Development Initiative.

 The modernized Apprenticeship Training concept integrates training of apprentices at the Training Providers. To meet the standards set in the Occupational Standards and broken down in the Unit Specifications, Training Providers (TP) have to facilitate learning on maintenance principals and major elements.
